What I Learned from the Grapes of Wrath

One of the two stories on VeggieTales Classics – God Wants Me to Forgive Them?  is the story of the Grapes of Wrath.  Now, I’ve never read the work that this is a parody of, so you’ll have to forgive my ignorance!  The message, however, is a good one.

Junior is insulted or made fun of by the child grapes, and his dad tells him to forgive them.  In a funny aside, Junior talks with Larry and Bob who are narrating the story to ask them (and QWERTY) how many times the Bible says to forgive someone.

QWERTY responds with 70 times 7– which is Biblically correct, but there’s a bigger point at work here.  The Bible’s not saying that the 491st time someone does something to us it’s ok not to forgive.  It’s to say that we should forgive without limit.

It’s a reflection of God’s forgiveness, which continues on no matter how many time we fail.  We need to be like Him.
