This theme is underscored through a few different means. First, Esther has the moral dilemma of whether to have the courage to tell her friend what she’s doing is wrong– a question that is interrupted by Haman coming to collect her. Then there’s the question of whether she should sing a song in the competition in order to win. Next, the courage to report the villains that are attempting to kill the king, and to approach the king which could mean death.
Lastly, the courage to tell the king that his most trusted aide is trying to kill her and her people. The last should not be underestimated. Haman had a special position with the king, and for him to be hanged instead of taking the easy way out and letting Esther be killed is not a small thing.
So, what did we learn? That God will be with those that stand for Him. We should believe that God will support us– not that He will necessarily save us, but that’s not the point. We need to have courage to do the right thing because it pleases Him– and this world is not all that there is.
